  7. This is version 0.2 of the codecs.library. This
  8. library manages codecs in a similar way the datatypes
  9. library manages datatypes.
  10. Each codec implements a specific compression algorithm,
  11. but they all share a general interface.
  12.  
  13. The included sp.codec image codec compresses 8 and 24
  14. bit images much better than GIF or PNG do.
  15.  
  16. Included in this archive are:

  20.  * the byterun.codec
  21.  * a sample program that shows how it can be used
